Physics Major (B.S.)
Purpose
The Bachelor of Science in Physics program equips students with a rigorous foundation in theoretical and experimental physics while fostering analytical and problem-solving skills essential for innovation in science and technology. In alignment with Liberty University’s mission, the program integrates a Christian worldview with academic excellence, preparing graduates to impact their workplaces and communities with integrity and purpose. Through a curriculum emphasizing critical thinking, practical application, and value-driven behavior, students are prepared for diverse career paths in research, industry, education, and advanced study, serving as adaptable professionals who glorify God through their vocations.
Program Learning Outcomes
The student will be able to:
- Understand fundamental physics principles as well as foundational concepts within its branches of mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics.
- Use mathematical techniques for problem solving.
- Systematically explore physical phenomena by setting up experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting their results.
- Understand how the cosmos and laws of physics support a creator and biblical worldview.
