History Major (A.A.)

Purpose

The purpose of this Associate of Arts in History is to equip students with the foundational knowledge necessary for interpreting the past. These interpretational skills are valuable in a wide variety of fields, and will foster opportunities for students in teaching, researching, and public service.

Program Learning Outcomes

The student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate mastery of a breadth of general knowledge of the field of history.
  • Apply biblical principles to the problems and issues of history.
  • Research historical topics and critically analyze historical literature, documents and data with historiographical and interpretative sophistication.

Delivery Format: Residential and Online

  • Genealogy librarian/assistant
  • Museum curator (may require bachelor’s or advanced degree)
  • State monument, national monument, and park positions
  • Various entry-level federal and state government agency jobs
  • Writer
