This is a non-licensure degree. Completion of this degree will not lead to the eligibility of a state educator license in Virginia or a license or certificate in any other state for endorsements in teaching, special education, content specialist, or school building-level administration.

Once the student enters the Dissertation phase, he/she must maintain continuous enrollment (Fall, Spring, Summer semesters) until all degree requirements are completed

Ph.D. students are allowed to enroll in EDDR 987, EDDR 988, and EDDR 989, one time. Extensions for exceptional circumstances must be approved by the School of Education

Graduation Requirements

• Complete 60 hours
• A minimum of 21 hours must be completed through Liberty University, not to include from a prior degree earned through Liberty
• A maximum of 39 hours of transfer credit, including credit from a degree on the same academic level previously earned through Liberty, may be applied to the degree
• 3.0 GPA
• No grades lower than a B- may be applied to the degree
• Successful defense of dissertation
• Degree must be completed within 5 years
• Submission of Degree Completion Application must be completed within the last semester of a student’s anticipated graduation date
