Gifted Education Graduate Certificate

Gifted Education Graduate Certificate

Purpose

The Graduate Certificate in Gifted Education seeks to provide K-12 educators and administrators with the specific knowledge to identify, support with compassion, and teach diverse learners who display gifted traits and advanced abilities. Upon completion of this program, candidates who have an initial teaching license issued by the Virginia Board of Education are eligible for an add-on endorsement in Gifted Education. Candidates will learn to implement programs and develop curriculum for gifted learners to provide nurturing and appropriate learning experiences which support equity for an education focused on students' specific strengths, needs, and interests to best develop their talents. The certificate provides opportunities for teachers or administrators to utilize current research and best practices, as well as understand how a biblical worldview provides a foundation for learning.
