Note: Competencies must be met prior to student teaching. Please refer to the Content Competency Chart. Candidates seeking licensure as 6-12 or K-12 teachers should have completed a bachelor's degree with a major in the teaching endorsement, or a degree in a related field with courses similar to that required for a bachelor's degree in the teaching endorsement. Candidates must document a minimum of 30 semester hours of content courses including each of the competencies listed for the endorsement. [See Content Competencies for subject areas]. In addition, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate Praxis Subject Assessment in the area of endorsement prior to student teaching.

Graduation Requirements

  • Complete 60 hours
  • A maximum of 50% of the program hours may be transferred if approved and allowable, including credit from an earned degree from Liberty University on the same academic level
  • 3.0 GPA required for the Master's degree
  • 3.0 GPA required for the Education Specialist degree
  • 33 Credit hours of MAT coursework must be 500-600 level
  • No more than two grades of C may be applied to the Master's degree (includes grades of C+ & C-)
  • No grade of D or below may be applied to the Master's degree (includes grades of D+ & D-)
  • No more than one grade of C may be applied to the Education Specialist degree (includes grades of C+ & C-)
  • No grade of D or below may be applied to the Education Specialist degree (includes grades of D+ & D-)
  • Degree must be completed within 7 years
  • Submission of Degree Completion Application must be completed within the last semester of a student’s anticipated graduation date
