Purpose

The purpose of the Certificate in Physics Education is to provide an option for teachers who desire a dual science endorsement to teach physics courses in grades 6-12 or teacher candidates who are enrolled in a teacher preparation program that leads to initial licensure in another science discipline in grades 6-12. This licensure certificate leads to a Virginia endorsement and is intended to prepare teachers with a current science endorsement to serve in Physics classrooms.

The student will be able to:

• Understand fundamental physics principles as well as foundational concepts within its branches of mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics.
