Purpose

The purpose of the Certificate in Algebra I is to provide candidates or teachers the eligibility to add an Algebra I endorsement to their initial teaching license, certifying them to instruct mathematics courses through Algebra I in grades 6- 12. This licensure certificate leads to a Virginia add-on endorsement and is intended to prepare teachers to serve in Algebra I classrooms.

• Use abstract reasoning to rigorously evaluate mathematical hypothesis, and formulate and communicate mathematical analysis and arguments.
