Earth Science Education Certificate
Purpose
The purpose of the Certificate in Earth Science Education is to provide an option for teachers who desire a dual science endorsement to teach earth science courses in grades 6-12 or teacher candidates who are enrolled in a teacher preparation program that leads to initial licensure in another science discipline in grades 6-12. This licensure certificate leads to a Virginia endorsement and is intended to prepare teachers with a current science endorsement to serve in Earth Science classrooms.
Program Learning Outcomes
The student will be able to:
- Understand fundamental earth science principles as well as foundational concepts within its branches of astronomy, meterology, and mineralogy-petrology, and oceanography.
