Purpose

The B.S. Architectural Studies major prepares future architects to transform society as Champions for Christ through academic excellence, design innovation, and mission-driven community engagement.  Students learn social responsibility, ethical practice, history and theory, creative thinking, and architectural design processes that prepare them to practice as skilled professionals, engaged citizens, and design leaders.  Within rich theological bearings, the program generates and applies relevant architectural knowledge, design practices, and performance technologies that advocate for flourishing communities and address 21^st century global challenges.    

Program Learning Outcomes

The student will be able to:

• Understand theories and ethics of architectural practice integrated with a biblical worldview and framed by diverse forces and impacts.
• Demonstrate foundational skillsets, principles, methodologies, and processes to inform and effectively communicate design decisions.
• Analyze and produce architectural design solutions in regard to materials, tectonics, and assemblies.
• Assess and communicate design, economics, and performance objectives of projects in regard to structural technologies, construction assemblies, and environmental systems.
• Apply inquiry and design methods across various media in response to varying problems, programs, agencies, and contexts to create effective architectural design solutions.
• Synthesize user requirements, regulatory requirements, site conditions, accessibility, and consideration of measurable environmental impacts of design through complex architectural projects.
