Theatre Arts Major (B.A./B.S.)
Purpose
The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Theatre Arts major is designed to develop observant, compassionate theatrical artists, grounded in the theories and practices of theatre direction, performance, production, design, writing, and ministry. Leading, creative artists in this field are seen as those who help shape culture and influence communities with the power of storytelling. Utilizing skills, knowledge, and professional ethics students are taught to glorify Christ in the world through the practice of their craft and the testimony of their lives.
Program Learning Outcomes
The student will be able to:
- Articulate a personal process as a creative artist grounded in the history and current practices of theatre.
- Evaluate multiple worldviews from a biblical perspective.
- Create original and re-interpretive theatrical work evidenced by a consistent work ethic and respect for professional ethics.
- Integrate research and critical thinking skills to deepen and refine the quality of artistic work.
- Communicate effectively in written, oral, visual and technological formats.
