Law and Policy Major (B.A./B.S.)
Purpose
The purpose of the Bachelor of Arts in Law and Policy and Bachelor of Science in Law and Policy major is to prepare students who wish to gain admission to law school and also to provide a foundation of legal knowledge for those who seek to integrate their knowledge of the law and public policy into their vocations but do not aspire to law school. The study of a foreign language will further the student's skill set and help further develop cultural competency.
Program Learning Outcomes
The student will be able to:
- Describe the constitutional foundation of the American legal system.
- Apply biblical principles to the theory and practical application of the law.
Pre-Law Concentration
The student will be able to:
- Perform legal research, analysis and synthesis.
- Describe the fundamental areas of law which form the core of the American legal system.
- Construct logical legal arguments for negotiation and problem solving.
Public Policy Concentration
The student will be able to:
- Describe strategies for effective public policy advocacy
- Evaluate the process of formulating and enacting public policy legislation
- Describe the execution of public policy through rulemaking, regulation and compliance enforcement
