Bachelor of Science in Government - Politics & Policy (B.S.) & Master of Arts in Public Policy - Think Tank & Policy Research (M.A.P.P.)

Purpose

The Bachelor of Science in Government - Politics & Policy (B.S.) & Master of Arts in Public Policy - Think Tank & Policy Research (M.A.P.P.) exists to equip students with a solid foundation in public policy and government within the context of an accelerated learning format. Dual credit allows students to expedite their education process, while also providing the same rigorous academic and biblical training on the policy analysis process.

Program Learning Outcomes

The student will be able to:

  • Evaluate the nature and role of government from a biblical worldview.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and oral formats.
  • Integrate ethical and values-driven decision making in government scenarios.
  • Evaluate political or government related dilemmas.\\n
  • Evaluate public policy initiatives in the political context.
  • Evaluate the impact of various political stakeholders in the public policy context.
  • Synthesize various theoretical and philosophical models as they relate to the public policy context.
  • Apply a model of Christian statesmanship to the public policy context.
  • Apply knowledge of the literature in the public policy context.

Program Specific Admission Procedures

In addition to the general admission requirements, specific admission procedures to the dual degree Bachelor of Science in Government - Politics & Policy (B.S.) & Master of Arts in Public Policy-Think Tank & Policy Research (M.A.) are as follow

  1. Earned baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (e.g., SACSCOC, TRACS, ABHE, etc.).1
  2. An undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
  3. TOEFL Scores for students who speak English as a second language (score of 600 paper-based test; 250 computer-based test, 80 internet-based test).

Students who do not meet the minimum GPA requirement may be admitted on Academic Caution status. Applicants who hold a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.00 to 2.99 on a 4.00 scale may be eligible for admission on Academic Caution.

Students may enroll in this dual degree with normal undergraduate admissions requirements, but must meet the graduation requirements to stay in the program once they begin graduate courses.
