Master of Science in Human Biology (M.S.)
Purpose
The Master of Science in Human Biology program provides students with both scientific and pedagogical preparation for teaching courses in higher education. This degree program includes rigorous biological science courses and specialized higher education courses taught from a biblical worldview that should provide graduates with the requisite competence in human biology and applied pedagogy to teach at the college level.Program Learning Outcomes
The student will be able to:
- Apply scientific knowledge to problem solving in the biomedical sciences with a biblical worldview.
- Address issues within higher education by using critical thinking strategies.
- Synthesize knowledge based on the literature of the human biology discipline.
Program Specific Admission Procedures
In addition to the General Admission Procedures outlined in this Catalog, applicants to the Master of Science in Human Biology program must have:
- An earned baccalaureate degree in biology or related biological sciences from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (e.g., SACSCOC, TRACS, ABHE, etc.);
- Official college transcript documenting the minimum GPA requirement and course prerequisites should be submitted.
- Minimum GPA 3.0
Transfer Credit
Students may transfer up to 16 hours of graduate course work from an accredited institution. In order to be eligible for transfer, course work must have a minimum grade of B-, and must have been completed in the past 10 years. Credits from a prior degree on the same academic level earned through Liberty University are considered transfer credits.
