Doctor of Health Sciences (D.H.Sc.)

Purpose

The purpose of the Health Sciences (DHSc) program is to prepare allied healthcare professionals from the Christian worldview to assume leadership roles in academia, research, and/or health and human services settings.

Program Learning Outcomes

The student will be able to:

  • Develop an ethical framework appropriate for allied health professions using the Biblical worldview.
  • Critique evidence-based interventions and programs with culturally appropriate attitudes toward health and illness.
  • Conduct research utilizing their knowledge of health science literature.

Program Specific Admission Procedures

In addition to the general admission requirements, admission to the Doctor of Health Sciences (D.H.Sc.) program requires:

  1. Earned master’s or professional practice degree beyond a bachelor’s from a regionally accredited institution (or foreign equivalent).
  2. An graduate cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above (on a 4.00 scale)

Students who do not meet the minimum GPA requirement may be admitted on Academic Caution status. Students who have less than an graduate 2.75 GPA will not be admitted to the program.

Transfer Credit

Students may transfer up to 30 hours from an accredited institution subject to department approval. In order to transfer credit, students must have earned the minimum grade of B-, and courses must have been completed within 7 years of the start date of the program. Credits from a prior degree on the same academic level earned through Liberty University are considered transfer credits.

The following courses are not eligible for transfer credit: HSCI 798 Practicum and Applied Doctoral Research Preparation (3 c.h.), HSCI 888 Applied Doctoral Research Project I (5 c.h.), HSCI 889 Applied Doctoral Research Project II (5 c.h.), HSCI 890 Applied Doctoral Research Project III (5 c.h.), and HSCI 898 Practicum (3 c.h.).
