Students with RN license and bachelors degree in a discipline other than Nursing must take NURS 226 Post-Licensure Research in Nursing (3 c.h.), NURS 440 Post-licensure Strategies for Community Health Care (4 c.h.), NURS 446 Post-Licensure Population Health (3 c.h.), NURS 489 Leadership in Nursing (3 c.h.), and NURS 491 Nursing Management (3 c.h.) within the first year of the program.

Introductory statistics course (math preferred) and an undergraduate course in health assessment are required. For those who did not complete these courses in their undergraduate programs, they may fulfill these requirements during the first two semesters of the M.S.N. program. Students must complete the statistics course prior to enrollment in NURS 500 Research (3 c.h.)

NURS 635 Nursing Informatics Data Management (3 c.h.) and NURS 636 Nursing Informatics Capstone (3 c.h.) involve practice experience hours (Nursing Informatics – 200 hours). Students must obtain a practice experience site contract along with an approved experienced informatics clinician. Students must also complete all  pre-practice experience requirements prior to enrollment in any practice experience course

Students must complete a background check prior to enrollment in NURS 630 Nursing Informatics Capstone (3 c.h.) for completion of practice experience

Graduation Requirements

  • Complete 36 hours
  • A maximum of 50% of the program hours may be transferred if approved and allowable, including credit from an earned degree from Liberty University on the same academic level
  • 3.0 GPA
  • No grades lower than a B- may be applied to the degree
  • Liberty University course work that is more than 5 years old may not be applied towards this degree. Students are required to repeat the course if it has exceeded the age limit
  • Degree must be completed within 5 years
  • Submission of Degree Completion Application must be completed within the last semester of a student’s anticipated graduation date
