This course serves as an introduction to foundational concepts for ministry training. Special attention will be given to the competencies necessary for research and writing and Bible study tools.

SEMI 510  Tools for Ministry Studies  3 Credit Hour(s)  
Prerequisite: SEMI 505
This course introduces students to the basic tools and resources utilized in the study of Scripture and theology for the purposes of ministry, spiritual formation, and seminary training. Special attention is given to the tools in the Logos Bible Software program.

SEMI 601  Mentored Ministry Residency I  3 Credit Hour(s)  
The residency is designed for those with limited full-time, paid vocational ministry experience. The ministry, mentor, and nature of involvement must be approved in advance by the program director or the Office of Experiential Learning. Residency involves work in an applied ministry setting where students continue to apply, adapt, and improve their skills in a supervised ministry situation. In order to complete this residency, students must be working and/or serving in a church or ministry under the supervision of a qualified ministry leader and complete a minimum number of hours as prescribed by the program director.
Registration Restrictions: Only students who are pursuing the M.A. in Practical Ministry will be able to register for the course.

SEMI 602  Mentored Ministry Residency II  3 Credit Hour(s)  
Prerequisite: SEMI 601
The residency is for those with limited full-time, paid vocational ministry experience and is designed as a continuation of the residency from SEMI 601 Mentored Ministry Residency 1. The ministry, mentor, and nature of involvement must be approved in advance by the program director or the Office of Experiential Learning. Residency involves work in an applied ministry setting where students continue to apply, adapt, and improve their skills in a supervised ministry situation. In order to complete this residency, students must be working and/or serving in a church or ministry under the supervision of a qualified ministry leader and complete a minimum number of hours as prescribed by the program director.

SEMI 689  Practical Ministry Capstone  3 Credit Hour(s)  
Prerequisite: ((NBST 516 or NBST 517) and SEMI 505 and SEMI 510 and SEMI 601 and SEMI 602 and SEMI 603 and THEO 521 )
This capstone course facilitates the demonstration of key principles, strategies, and information assimilated through the student’s mentored ministry residency. A major focus of the course will be a substantive capstone project which engages concepts learned throughout the residency and showcases the student's understanding of the knowledge, strategies, skills, and processes necessary for effective ministry implementation and leadership. The course is designed to be taken in the final semester of the student’s residency to allow for a full incorporation of all prior coursework.
