This course focuses on structure and design of Ph.D. dissertation research that includes chairperson review and scholarly discourse leading to proposal development and a draft of chapter one. Any student who is not ready for enrollment in HIST 988 after completing HIST 987 may be required, as determined by the student's dissertation chair, to repeat HIST 987 until deemed ready for enrollment in HIST 988.
