Instructional emphases will focus on the basic skills of swimming including breath control, floating, and sculling. This course will allow students to develop cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills for the intermediate swimmer. Instructional emphases will focus on the intermediate strokes of swimming including the front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and breaststroke as well as advanced water safety skills. The course is designed to teach emergency water safety skills as well as knowledge and performance of non-swimming and swimming assists, water entries, defenses and escapes, and rescue skills.
